Bio

Early Life and Education

Growing up in the charming town of Sterling, Colorado, I completed my early education at Sterling High School. My journey in higher education began at Northeastern Junior College (NJC), where I spent two enriching years. During my time at NJC, I not only excelled in academics but also passionately played softball and had the unique opportunity to perform with the College Singers at the World's Fair.

Academic Pursuits and Athletic Involvement

Following NJC, I transferred to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), where I pursued a double major in Biology and Physical Education. This dual focus not only fed my intellectual curiosity but also prepared me for a diverse career in education and athletics. My commitment to education continued with a Master's degree in Education from the American Intercontinental University (AIU).

Teaching Career and Contributions

At Fort Morgan

My teaching career began at Fort Morgan, where I spent 11 fulfilling years teaching middle school Physical Education and Health. It was here that I launched the High School Gymnastics program, a testament to my dedication to expanding athletic opportunities for students.

At Sterling Middle School

I then transitioned to Sterling Middle School, where I dedicated 19.5 years to teaching 7th Grade Science, and Health and PE for grades 6 through 8. My role extended beyond the classroom as I served as the high school athletic trainer for a couple of years. When the position was eliminated, I embraced a new challenge by becoming the Boys Golf Coach and initiated the Girls Golf Program, further broadening the athletic landscape at the school.

Adjunct Instructor Role

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I also contributed as an adjunct instructor at NJC for seven years. I taught a variety of courses, including:

  • Intro to PE and Sport
  • Perspectives of PE and Sport
  • Weight Training
  • Walk/Jog Classes

These classes allowed me to share my passion for physical education and sports with a wider audience, nurturing the next generation of educators and fitness enthusiasts.
