Assistant Athletic Director Denise Dennington is in her sixth year at Northeastern Junior College. Prior to Northeastern, Denise was a stadium operations and event management intern with Kroenke Sports and Entertainment and Dick's Sporting Goods Park. During her intership with DSGP, she worked major events such as concerts for PHISH, Dave Matthews, Justin Bieber and professional MLS matches for the Colorado Rapids. In addition to these major events, she has also worked non-profit events for Step Up for Cancer, Special Olympics Soccer and Rapids Fan Appreciation.
Upon graduating from high school in Sterling, Colo., she attended the University of Northern Colorado and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2011 with minors in history and communications. In 2013, she earned her Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
During her six years with Northeastern Athletics, Denise has implemented a full athletic logo rebrand. Created a program for student-athlete mental health and established the first Student-Athlete Advisory Council. She also chaired an athletic website redesign and served on a grant for suicide prevention. She is the event manager for the institution's ten intercollegiate teams, as well as numerous high school events. Denise leads a staff that oversees each of Northeastern's home events, including the Bank of Colorado Event Center, Plainsman Park, Mason Field and the Soccer pitch. She is also the liaison for the officials and visiting teams. In addition to her event management duties, she also manages the marketing, graphic and brand standards as well as public relations for the department.
