Northeastern Baseball Powers Past Trinidad State In Game 2, Putting up 20 Runs To Win the Game 20-8

DDC Player of the Game, George Greene hit two home runs and drove in seven as Northeastern defeated Trinidad State 20-8 on Friday. Greene homered in the eighth and first innings.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Northeastern collected 14 hits and Trinidad had seven in the high-scoring affair.

A home run to left field by Jeremy Claveau put the Trojans on the board in the top of the first.

Northeastern made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the first after Brayden Stufft doubled, scoring one run, Riley Suarez singled, scoring one run, and Greene homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Trinidad took the lead, 6-4, in the top of the second thanks to home runs by Silas Hilton, and Dylan Chopp.

Greene singled to center field, which helped Northeastern tie the game at six in the bottom of the second.

The Plainsmen took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Nate Glad hit a solo home run to right field, to give Northeastern the edge, 7-6.

Trinidad scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Zach Hale on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

Northeastern scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to left field by Eastin Hubbard.

Chopp hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the the Trojans.

Northeastern scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Glad homered to left field, scoring three runs, Hudson Hoy was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and a wild pitch scored two runs.

The Plainsmen scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth on a grand slam to right field by Greene.

Keon Bandy earned the win for Northeastern. The reliever allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Omar Benelli took the loss for Trinidad. The hurler went two and one-third innings, giving up six runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking three. Callum Baron stepped on the hill first for Northeastern. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and six runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Justin Dean appeared in relief for Northeastern.

Northeastern collected 14 hits in the game. Glad and Greene hit multiple home runs for the Plainsmen. Glad, Zach McVay, and Tanner Peerey each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Glad led Northeastern with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game. The Plainsmen ran wild on the base paths, collecting three stolen bases for the game. Northeastern turned two double plays in the game.
