Northeastern Baseball Goes 2-2 in the Four Games Series Against McCook Community College, Falling in Game 4 20-10

Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Northeastern fell to McCook 20-10 on Saturday. McCook collected 13 hits, while Northeastern had five.

The Indians opened the scoring in the first after Jakoby Hamer grounded out, scoring one run.

McCook added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Corbin Lochhead homered to right field, and Hamer doubled down the left field line, each scoring two runs.

Northeastern scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to center field by Brayden Stufft.

McCook scored three runs in the top of the third on a home run to center field by Connor Charvat on an 0-2 count.

Northeastern tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Nate Glad, a double by DDC Player of the Game, Michael Clark, a walk by Aniel Del Orbe, a walk by Hudson Hoy, an error, and a single by Eastin Hubbard.

The Indians captured the lead, 10-8, in the top of the fourth after Hunter Southey grounded out, and Kieren Cutler flew out, each scoring one run.

Clark hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fourth for the Northeastern.

McCook scored nine runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning. Hamer hit a grand slam to left field, Southey homered to right field, scoring two runs, Kon Yoshimura singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on another play.

Gavin Lamont led things off on the mound for Northeastern. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and eight runs (five earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Callum Baron took the loss for Northeastern. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one. Tobey Cassino began the game for McCook. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and five runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Clark drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northeastern with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Hoy led Northeastern with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game.
