Northeastern Baseball Takes Game One of the Four Game Road Series Over Luna Community College 15-3

DDC Player of the Game, George Greene collected three hits in three at bats, as Northeastern defeated Luna 15-3 on Thursday. Greene hit a solo home run to right field in the fifth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.

Northeastern got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brayden Stufft homered to right field, Brendan Clelland singled to center field, and Michael Clark singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Riley Suarez homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the second for the Northeastern.

The Plainsmen added one run in the third. Tavish Dey doubled to left field, making the score 6-0.

Northeastern scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning. Greene singled, scoring one run, Clelland hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Clark singled, scoring one run, Aniel Del Orbe singled, scoring one run, Eastin Hubbard homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Tanner Peerey singled, scoring one run.

Northeastern added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on four hits. Greene hit a solo home run to right field, and Hubbard singled, scoring one run.

Jackson Jolly homered to right field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Luna.

Ondrej Vank earned the win for Northeastern. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Tadum Widner stepped on the hill first for Luna. The righty surrendered nine hits and nine runs (eight earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking three. David Ada appeared in relief for Northeastern.

Northeastern collected 18 hits in the game. Hubbard, the number eight hitter for the Plainsmen, led the way with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Dey, Clark, Greene, and Hubbard each collected three hits for Northeastern. Suarez collected two hits for Northeastern in three at bats. Clark stole two bases. Northeastern ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Northeastern turned one double play in the game.
