Northeastern Baseball Drops Game Three To Luna Community College 7-6
A walk-off left Northeastern on the wrong end of a 7-6 defeat to Luna on Friday. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Jarren Villa hit a solo home run to center field.
DDC Player of the Game, Tanner Peerey homered in the second and sixth innings. Overall the right-handed hitter went 2-4 while driving in two and scoring two runs.
Northeastern opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two home runs. Northeastern first got on the board when Peerey hit a solo home run to right field.
A single by Nate Glad extended the Northeastern lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
Simon Molina homered to left field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Luna.
Northeastern added to their lead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to home runs by Eastin Hubbard and Peerey.
Andres Suarez homered to left field, which helped Luna tie the game at six in the bottom of the seventh.
Jackson Jolly earned the win for Luna. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Tony Slizowski led things off on the mound for Northeastern. The starter surrendered five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Molina started on the hill for Luna. The righty surrendered seven hits and six runs (five earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking three.
Aniel Del Orbe and Peerey each collected two hits for Northeastern. Brayden Stufft stole three bases. Northeastern ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Northeastern were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Stufft made the most plays with nine.
