Northeastern Baseball Wins Series Over Luna Community College 3-1, After Winning Game Four 13-4
DDC Player of the Game, Aniel Del Orbe drove in four runs on three hits to lead Northeastern past Luna 13-4 on Friday. Del Orbe hit a home run to left field in the sixth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the seventh inning, scoring one.
Northeastern opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to three home runs. Northeastern first got on the board when Zach McVay hit a solo home run to center field.
Luna scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to right field by Sean Vigil.
Northeastern scored six runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning. Brayden Stufft hit a solo home run to left field, Del Orbe homered to left field, scoring three runs, McVay grounded out, scoring one run, and Riley Suarez grounded out, scoring one run.
Keon Bandy earned the win for Northeastern. The hurler surrendered six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out none and walking none. Erick Leyva took the loss for Luna. The pitcher went two innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Callum Baron threw two innings of scoreless ball for Northeastern in relief. The southpaw surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Northeastern accumulated 17 hits in the game. Tavish Dey, Del Orbe, and Nate Glad each collected three hits for Northeastern. Tanner Peerey collected two hits for the Plainsmen in three at bats. Northeastern had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Peerey and Eastin Hubbard led the team with two free passes each. The Plainsmen stole five bases in the game.
