Northeastern Baseball Wins Game 1 of the Four Game Road Series Over Otero College 7-3

DDC Player of the Game, Nate Glad collected three hits in four at bats, as Northeastern defeated Otero 7-3 on Saturday. Glad hit a solo home run to left field in the third inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Ondrej Vank struck out 10 batters on the day. The righty also gave up five hits and three runs over five innings while walking three.

A double by Glad put Northeastern on the board in the top of the first.

Colton Calderon tripled down the right field line, which helped Otero tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Northeastern took the lead in the top of the second. Brayden Stufft hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give the Plainsmen the upper hand, 2-1.

Kaed Coates hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Rattlers tie the game at two in the bottom of the second.

Northeastern took the lead in the top of the third inning after Glad homered to left field, Eastin Hubbard singled down the left field line, and Zach McVay lined out, each scoring one run.

Riley Suarez homered to right field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Northeastern.

Jevon Parent took the loss for Otero. The righty went six and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits, striking out five and walking two. Logan Steckel collected the save.

Northeastern amassed 12 hits in the game. Suarez and Glad each drove in two runs for Northeastern. Hubbard collected two hits for Northeastern in four at bats. Northeastern were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Stufft had the most chances in the field with 15.
