Northeastern Softball Takes Down Trinidad State College 12-10 In Game Two Of The Four Game Series

Northeastern Softball evens the series against Trinidad State College after they took down the Trojans 12-10 on Saturday. Tatiana Hunt was named the DDC Player of the Game. Hunt went 2-4 at the plate, hitting one double, hitting one home run, scored two runs and drove in two runs in the contest. 

It was a highly offensive battle in game two, the Trojans collected 15 hits, while the Plainswomen collected 14 hits in the contest. Northeastern jumped out to a huge lead, going up 9-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Kelsi Jurczewsky doubled, scoring two runs, Isabella Bencivenga singled, scoring one run, Ryann Mergelman singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Mikeayla Llamas singled scoring two runs and Hunt doubled, scoring one run. Trinidad scored 5 runs in the top of the second inning. The Trojans were able to take a 10-9 lead in the top of the third. Hunt homered to left field, which helped Northeastern tie the game at 10 in the bottom of the fourth. The Plainswomen took the lead 11-10 in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a solo home run to left field by Reina Roberts

Maddie Cline earned the win for the Plainswomen. Cline threw 6 innings, giving up 10 earned runs on 15 hits, walking one batter and striking out one batter. Reagan Fehringer came in for one inning of relief and earned the save. Bencivenga, Jurczewsky, Hunt, Blayke Duncan, Mergelman and Addison Steele each drove in two runs for Northeastern. The Plaiswomen were able to steal three bases in the contest.
