Sterling native Jenny Smock brings a wealth of experience, local pride, and a lifelong passion for the game of softball to her role as Head Coach at Northeastern Junior College. A 1983 graduate of Sterling High School, Smock was a  three-sport athlete, volleyball, basketball, and track, and was honored as the school’s Outstanding Senior Athlete her graduating year.

Smock continued her athletic career at the collegiate level, pitching for Colorado State University from 1984 to 1988. Her competitive softball career extended well beyond college, as she continued to play at a high level until 2002, including 15 national tournaments, demonstrating her enduring love for the game and commitment to excellence.

Jenny’s coaching journey began at home—at Sterling High School—where she helped launch the school’s softball program and served as head coach for 13 years, guiding and inspiring young athletes from the program’s inception. Her impact was first felt at Northeastern Junior College during the 1997–1998 season, and after years of continued involvement in athletics and education, she made a celebrated return to the Plainswomen softball program in the fall of 2022.
