Northeastern Baseball Sweeps the Season Series over Lamar Community College, Winning Game 4 20-8

DDC Player of the Game, Aniel Del Orbe drove in five runs on three hits to lead Northeastern past Lamar 20-8 on Friday. Del Orbe hit a home run to center field in the second inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring two.

Bats blistered as Northeastern collected 19 hits and Lamar tallied 11 in the high-scoring game.

Northeastern got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tanner Peerey hit a solo home run to left field, Eastin Hubbard hit a solo home run to left field, Jose Victorio singled, scoring one run, Nate Glad singled, scoring two runs, Hudson Hoy singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Del Orbe singled, scoring two runs, and Victorio drew a walk, scoring one run.

Four more Northeastern runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 14-3. Peerey singled, scoring one run, and Del Orbe homered to center field, scoring three runs.

A single by Peerey extended the Northeastern lead to 15-3 in the top of the third inning.

The Plainsmen scored five runs on four hits in the top of the eighth inning. Michael Clark singled, scoring two runs, Carson Sauter homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Brayden Stufft hit a solo home run to left field.

Merick Fisbeck earned the win for Northeastern. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking none. Jaiven Baca collected the save. Carson Ripley tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Northeastern in relief. The hurler surrendered two hits, striking out three and walking one.

Northeastern accumulated 19 hits in the game. Del Orbe and Peerey each collected three hits for Northeastern. Clark, Glad, and Cannon Utz each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Brendan Clelland led Northeastern with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Northeastern stole three bases in the game. Northeastern turned one double play in the game.
