Northeastern Softball Takes Care of Business Against Dakota College at Bottineau Winning 14-0

America Griffin drove in four runs on three hits to lead Northeastern past Dakota College of Bottineau 14-0 on Sunday at Sterling. Griffin hit a home run to center field in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one.

Northeastern got on the board in the first inning after Griffin homered to center field, scoring three runs.

A fly out by Kelsi Jurczewsky, a double by Reina Roberts, and a double by Addison Steele helped the Plainswomen extend their early lead in the third.

Northeastern scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. DDC Player of the Game, Marisa Reyes tripled, scoring one run, Mikey Llamas doubled, scoring one run, Griffin singled, scoring one run, Steele doubled, scoring one run, Ryann Mergelman singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.

Reyes began the game for Northeastern. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Aislyn Richard opened the game for the Lady Jacksl. The left-handed pitcher gave up eight hits and 10 runs over three innings, striking out five and walking four.

Northeastern tallied 12 hits in the game. Reyes and Steele each collected multiple hits for NJC. Llamas led NJC with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. NJC turned one double play in the game. NJC were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. T-Nyla Curnutt made the most plays with five.
