Northeastern Softball Finishes 3-1 Against Colby Community College Winning Game 4 13-5

Brodie Wilcoxen collected three hits in three at bats, as Northeastern defeated Colby 13-5 on Thursday at Sterling. Wilcoxen singled in the fifth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Northeastern scored seven runs in the fifth inning on the way to victory. T-Nyla Curnutt singled, scoring one run, Wilcoxen singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored two runs, and Reina Roberts doubled, scoring two runs.

Colby opened the scoring in the first after Briley Christensen homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Colby extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Ava Pezely and Brooke Zinken.

The Trojans added one run in the third. Aly Richardson singled down the left field line, making the score 5-2.

Brook McNeil led things off in the circle for Northeastern. The righty gave up eight hits and four runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Aubree Trujillo led things off in the circle for Colby. The righty allowed six hits and six runs over three innings, striking out one and walking two.

Northeastern accumulated 13 hits in the game. DDC Player of the Game, Kelsi Jurczewsky drove the middle of the lineup, leading NJC with four runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Wilcoxen, Marisa Reyes, and Jurczewsky each collected three hits for Northeastern. Curnutt collected two hits for the Plaiswomen in four at bats. Addison Steele paced NJC with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. NJC were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Wilcoxen made the most plays with six.

Northeastern will welcome in Dakota College at Bottineau for a two game series on March 8th.
