Northeastern Softball Wins in a Walk-Off Over Colby Community College 7-6
Northeastern took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Colby at Sterling. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.
Colby got on the board in the top of the first inning after Briley Christensen flew out, Ashlynn Pavlov singled down the right field line, and Dayanna Miller grounded out, each scoring one run.
Northeastern tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Kelsi Jurczewsky, a fly out by America Griffin, and a ground out by Addison Steele.
A ground out by Brooke Zinken gave the Trojans the lead, 4-3, in the top of the second.
Colby added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Emmy Supernor homered to left field, and Ella Mcdonald singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
DDC Player of the Game, Tatiana Hunt homered to left field, which helped Northeastern tie the game at six in the bottom of the sixth.
Marisa Reyes began the game for Northeastern. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and six runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking two. Ali Nikolaus opened the game for the Trojans. The pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking three.
Hunt led Northeastern with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Reyes and Jurczewsky each collected two hits for NJC.
