Northeastern Softball Falls To #25 McCook on the Road 14-5

Northeastern had trouble keeping up with McCook in a 14-5 loss on Sunday at McCook.

McCook got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lyndsay Keogh grounded out, Brooklynn Gillen grounded out, and Audrey Reeves singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

The Indians added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Northeastern committed an error, and Reeves grounded into a double play, each scoring one run.

Northeastern made the score 7-5 in the top of the fifth inning when DDC Player of the Game, Brodie Wilcoxen homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Kelsi Jurczewsky laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Marisa Reyes stepped in the circle first for Northeastern. The hurler allowed 12 hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Paige Warren started in the circle for McCook. The pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out 12 and walking three.

America Griffin went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Northeastern in hits. Mikey Llamas and Wilcoxen each drove in two runs for the Plainswomen. NJC turned one double play in the game.
