Northeastern Softball Makes History, Throwing Program's First Perfect Game Against Fort Hays Tech Northwest

Northeastern easily dispatched Fort Hays Tech on Tuesday at Sterling, 20-0.

The Plainswomen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kelsi Jurczewsky singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Tati Hunt singled, scoring one run, Addison Steele singled, scoring one run, Brodie Wilcoxen singled, scoring one run, Marisa Reyes doubled, scoring two runs, and Mikey Llamas doubled, scoring two runs.

Northeastern scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to center field by Steele.

The Plainswomen added one run in the third after America Griffin singled to center field.

Northeastern scored nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hallie Waldron singled, scoring two runs, Maddie Cline singled, scoring one run, Brisa Aguirre-Garcia grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, Elyce Sisseck scored after tagging up, Cami Ruecker singled, scoring one run, and Cline singled, scoring one run.

Brook McNeil started in the circle for Northeastern. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Nadia Armstrong began the game for Fort Hays Tech. The starting pitcher surrendered 16 hits and 20 runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking six. Reyes threw two innings of scoreless ball for Northeastern in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Northeasternpiled up 16 hits in the game. Reyes, Cline, Steele, and Jurczewsky each collected two hits for NJC. Llamas, Reyes, Griffin, Cline, Steele, and Waldron each drove in two runs for NJC. NJC worked the count all day, tallying six walks. NJC didn't commit a single error in the field. Madison Birt had the most chances in the field with six.
