Northeastern Softball Takes Down North Platte Community College on the Road 10-2
DDc Player of the Game, Marisa Reyes was dominant in the circle, as the right-handed pitcher rang up 11 strikeouts in Northeastern's 10-2 victory over North Platte on Sunday at North Platte. Reyes gave up three hits and two runs over seven innings while walking three.
Northeastern jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after an error scored one run, Tati Hunt doubled, scoring two runs, and Brodie Wilcoxen singled, scoring one run.
Four more Northeastern runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 10-2. Madison Birt doubled, scoring two runs, and Reyes homered to right field, scoring two runs.
Danica Unger stepped in the circle first for the Knights. The starter gave up 17 hits and 10 runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.
The Plainswomen collected 17 hits in the game. Mikey Llamas, Wilcoxen, and Hunt each collected three hits for NJC. Reyes led Northeastern with three runs batted in. The switch hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. America Griffin and Kelsi Jurczewsky each collected multiple hits for Northeastern.
