Northeastern Softball Takes The Sweep Over Otero College, Winning Game Four 14-1

DDC Player of the Game, Tatiana Hunt collected three hits in three at bats, as Northeastern defeated Otero 14-1 on Saturday at Sterling. Hunt hit a home run to right field in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Northeastern opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to two home runs. The Plainswomen first got on the board when Hunt homered to right field, scoring two runs.

The Plainswomen scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Addison Steele.

Northeastern scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hunt singled, scoring one run, Madison Birt singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, T-Nyla Curnutt singled, scoring one run, Marisa Reyes drew a walk, scoring one run, and Brisa Aguirre-Garcia drew a walk, scoring one run.

Brook McNeil started in the circle for Northeastern. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none. Liv Smith led things off in the circle for Otero. The starter allowed 16 hits and 14 runs (12 earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking two. Maddie Cline tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Northeastern in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out none and walking one.

NJC tallied 16 hits in the game. Steele led NJC with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Brodie Wilcoxen led NJC with four hits in four at bats. Birt and Hunt each collected multiple hits for NJC. NJC turned one double play in the game.
