Northeastern Softball Continues Their Dominance Over Lamar Community College, Winning Game 3 13-4
DDC Player of the Game, Brodie Wilcoxen collected three hits in four at bats, as Northeastern defeated Lamar 13-4 on Sunday at Lamar. Wilcoxen hit a solo home run to center field in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning.
Northeastern scored eight runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Addison Steele homered to center field, scoring three runs, Mikey Llamas singled, scoring three runs, Kelsi Jurczewsky tripled, scoring one run, and America Griffin singled, scoring one run.
The Plainswomen opened the scoring in the first after Wilcoxen hit a solo home run to center field.
Lamar captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Cotalina Duran hit a solo home run to left field, and Delorin Bellomy singled, scoring two runs.
A single by Marisa Reyes extended the Northeastern lead to 10-4 in the top of the third inning.
Northeastern scored two runs in the top of the fourth on a home run to center field by Tati Hunt.
Reyes led things off in the circle for Northeastern. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking five. Bellomy stepped in the circle first for Lamar. The starter gave up seven hits and eight runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Northeastern tallied 13 hits in the game. Steele led the Plainswomen with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Reyes and Griffin each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Northeastern turned one double play in the game.
