#5 Northeastern Volleyball Takes Down #16 New Mexico Military Institute in 4 Sets

The Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen secured a victory in their preseason volleyball match against the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos on September 12, 2025. Held at their home court, the Plainswomen demonstrated solid teamwork and strategic play, concluding the match with a final score of 3-1 in favor of Northeastern.

The Plainswomen set the pace early in the match, taking the first set with a decisive 25-14 score. They maintained their momentum in the second set, overcoming a more resilient Broncos team to win 25-21. Despite a setback in the third set where they fell 20-25, the Plainswomen rallied in the fourth and final set to clinch the match with a nail-biting 26-24 victory.

Key players for Northeastern included Samantha Mosley, who led with 19 kills, and Kaitlyn Barnes, who contributed 16 kills. Defensive efforts were spearheaded by Taelynn with 7 blocks and Natalie Moore with 6 blocks, the latter also making history by entering the top 10 for all-time blocks. Evie Gavette excelled in defense with 28 digs. Meanwhile, Kennedy Kerr was a standout in service, recording 4 aces and earning 'DDC player of the match' for pivotal serve runs that shifted the momentum in favor of the Plainswomen when trailed. Stella Carre supported the offensive efforts impressively with 49 assists.

The Plainswomen are scheduled to play their next game against Barton Community College on September 13, 2025, at the Northeastern Junior College. They currently hold an impressive season record of 11-3.
